Pay attention

The task for us is to make ourselves available to God each day and to pay attention.  – Adam Hamilton, author of Why? Making Sense of God’s Will        boy and girl watching

Paying attention has been on my heart lately.  It takes so little effort to make someone feel good and appreciated.  Actually, the reverse is true as well.  Simple actions can make or break a day.

People who make other people feel good are people you want to be around.  Time when people are around you is time and opportunity for you to witness.  Anytime you do something kind is a witness.  The reverse of that is true as well.

Mr. Hamilton is right.  I want to be more available to God and pay more attention; to God and His children.

What Would Your Title Be?

As I’ve said in previous blogs, I’m in the midst of reading When Character Was King: a story of Ronald Reagan, by Paula Blog photo girl with hands upNoonan.

It makes me wonder what words would be written about me if someone wrote the story of my life. would the title be When Character was Queen?  I don’t just doubt it, I’m sure of it!

What might the title be? If someone wrote your story, what would the reader be told?  How would you be described?  How would you want to be described?

I would want to fall under Philippians 1:27

Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ.

That’s how I would like to be described.  Whatever happened, she conducted herself in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Whatever stories were recounted, I would hope the underlying motive would be to display conduct worthy of Christ’s gospel.

What would the title of your biography be?  Not your autobiography, but your biography written from another person’s perspective.  What would the reader think of your character?

It’s something to think about.

Treat Your Witness Like Your Work

Do we treat our witness like our work?OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

If our boss tells us to do something we do it, according to our job description.

Jesus gave us our job description in Matthew 28:18

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.

The company I represent recently had it’s annual national conference.  People who attended came away from those 3 days all fired up; motivated to get home and work hard and smart for their reward.

Wouldn’t it be something if we treated our witness like our work; with the same sense of urgency to do a good job and give a favorable report to our boss?

I love what Dale Evans Rogers wrote about herself (wife of Roy for us older folks)!

Yes, this woman at the well loves Christ with her whole heart, and she is not ashamed to tell the world what he has done for her.

It always feels good to get praise and a, “Well done,” from the people we work for.  But our energies should be balanced as we strive to hear the greatest “Well done'” of all.

How would you be reviewed for your work for the kingdom?
